Aquarium Emergency Help

When fish look distressed, start with water.

Gasping, sudden lethargy, cloudy water, or a rapid ammonia or nitrite reading calls for calm, tested action.

First Steps

Test. Stabilize. Then diagnose.

Do not add multiple products at once. The goal is to improve water quality and identify the actual cause.

Test Immediately

Check ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, and temperature. Write down the results and note any recent changes, new fish, missed maintenance, or equipment failure.

Improve Oxygen & Water

Make sure the filter and heater are running, increase surface movement if needed, and perform a carefully prepared partial water change when tests or conditions call for it.

Do Not Guess With Medicine

Many symptoms have water-quality causes. Treating the wrong problem can add stress, especially in tanks with shrimp, snails, plants, or sensitive fish.

Message Gigi with: tank size, fish species, test results, temperature, photos or video, recent changes, and the exact products already used.
