Feeding Guide

Feed smart, not more.

Right-sized meals keep freshwater fish healthy and make the aquarium easier to maintain.

A Simple Rule

Feed only what the fish eat quickly.

Most adult community fish do well with one small feeding each day. The amount should be eaten within 30-60 seconds; remove leftover food and feed less next time.

Signs of overfeeding

Cloudy water, high nitrates, algae, uneaten food in the gravel, and a filter that clogs quickly can all mean portions are too large.

Healthy feeding habits

Clear water, active fish, stable water parameters, and food gone within a minute are good signs. Many healthy adult fish can also benefit from one no-food day each week.

Young fry, shrimp, bottom feeders, and special species can have different needs. Ask Gigi about the best food and schedule for the fish in your tank.
